‘Supporting UPND has cost us development’

By ANDREW MUKOMA
RESIDENTS of Mapanda village in Kazungula District of Southern Province have blamed the lack of development to their continued support of the opposition UPND.
As a result, the area has an unfinished clinic structure which has not been completed since 2013.
Community representative Brighton Mwampole said the people of Mapanda have realised their missed opportunities of having development in the area.
Mr Mwampole said going forward, the people of Mapanda will rally behind the ruling party under President Lungu.
This came to light when PF deputy national mobilisation chairperson Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba visited the area on Sunday morning.
Speaking when he addressed the residents, Mr Mwamba pleaded with them to begin to work with the government of the day if they wanted development to reach them.
He said being perpetual supporters of the opposition does not pay hence the clinic not having been completed seven years down the line. Mr Mwamba said for meaningful development to trickle down to the people, such people needed to work with the government of the day and in this case, the PF government and President Edgar Lungu.
He further pledged K50,000 towards the completion of the Mapanda Clinic while Tomas Mushibe another member of the national mobilisation committee pledged 100 bags of cement towards the same project.
