THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has increased to 22 cases, Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has said.
And Dr Chilufya said during a media briefing yesterday in Lusaka that about 20 cases were from Lusaka and two cases from Luanshya.
The 20 have been admitted at Levy Mwanawansa and Twabalenge isolation facilities and two have been admitted at Masaiti hospital isolation facility, he said.
Dr Chitalu said all the 22 people who tested positive with coronavirus were stable and being managed by the health personnel.
“About 264 suspected cases have been screened as at now and 25 will be screened today (yesterday). From this tests which our health workers conducted it has been established that 22 people tested positive of coronavirus and are in isolation facilities right now.
“These people are responding well and are in stable condition. Our health workers are managing them very well to ensure that they are discharged from the isolation facilities.
“I want to inform the nation that we have screened about 3, 000 travelers from high risk countries and more will be screened to ascertain whether they are some who have been affected,” Dr Chilufya said.
The minister has also urged Zambians to be responsible in order to stop the spread of coronavirus in the.
And chief government spokesperson, Dora Siliya said there was no motivation for Government to lie about the number of coronavirus cases in the country.
Ms Siliya said the number of confirmed cases in Zambia remained 22.
She observed that there was a lot of doubt and insinuations among the public that the cases were probably more than those announced.
Ms Siliya however said during an interview on Phoenix FM that Government had no essence to lie about the number of Corona virus cases in Zambia.
She said if Government wanted to lie or hide information, it would have told the nation that there were no cases recorded in the nation.
