PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Copperbelt provincial chief security officer Elaston Chipili has warned members of the PF security wing on the Copperbelt against provoking UPND cadres whenever they go to the police stations or courts of laws to give solidarity to their embattled leaders.

He said, as PF provincial chief security officer, he would not like to see members of the security wing being part of the confusion created by the UPND cadres and their leaders whenever they go to the police stations or courts of laws.

Mr Chipili said in an interview in Kitwe that any member of the PF security wing on the Copperbelt who would be found to have followed UPND cadres and provoked them at the courts when their leaders were appearing in court would face stern disciplinary action.

Mr Chipili, who is known as ‘Commander’ among the PF cadres, said UPND cadres and their leadership should be left to deal with law enforcement agencies.

“We don’t want any member of the PF security wing on the Copperbelt to be involved in any confusion being created by the UPND cadres when they go to the courts to give solidarity to their leaders.

“We don’t want a situation where when they start fighting within themselves, they say that they were beaten by PF security wing. No! Let the law enforcement agencies deal with the UPND. Let us stay away as PF security wing,” he said.

He also said he was happy that President Lungu had appointed a number of youths with tested leadership like Stephen Kampyongo to the position of Home Affairs, Bowman Lusambo as Copperbelt Minister, Transport Minister Brian Mushimba and others.

He said apart from some youths in Cabinet, President Lungu had also appointed veterans in party positions like secretary general Davies Mwila.

“From the time, he has appointed as National Youth Chairman, Mr Kampyongo to Cabinet. This shows quality leadership and, as youths, we are happy with President Lungu for appointing him as Home Affairs Minister. We are equally happy with the appointment of Davies Mwila as secretary general because he is good at mobilising the party.

“Bowman Lusambo is a fellow youth who is also good at mobilising the party and we are confident that he will not sideline the youths, but work with them while serving as Copperbelt minister,” he said.
