RAPHAEL Nakacinda must pay because he lied to the nation that I invited judges to my house, President Hakainde Hichilema has said.
Mr. Nakacinda, who is PF chairperson for media in January alleged that Mr. Hichilema met judges to discuss the case of nine Members of Parliament (MPs) whose seats were nullified. The matter has since been taken to court after Mr Nakacinda was arrested for defamation of the President.
President Hichilema said yesterday at a press conference that Mr Nakacinda should pay for telling lies to the nation.
Mr. Hichilema said Mr. Nakacinda’s allegations were false because he never met any judge at his house to influence the court’s decision in the case of the nine MPs.
“I never called any judges to my house that is a lie. Under the rule of law, Nakacinda must pay the price because he lied to the nation, isn’t it, so why should we then promote lies in our country,” he said.
The President urged Zambians not to waste valuable time on petty issues as doing so would derail the country’s time to focus on matters of national importance.
And Mr. Hichilema assured Zambians of freedom including those he said took away the freedom of the UPND while in the opposition.
He said Zambians should get used to the freedom and order that they were enjoying because they would be the order of the day under the UPND administration.
“We want those who took our freedom to have freedom, get used to seeing freedoms being enjoyed, we are asking you to get used to order,” he said.
