UPND  jostle for Siavonga?

POLITICAL  jostling for supremacy in the Siavonga UPND has intensified with 7 aspirant parliamentary candidates positioning themselves to contest on the opposition UPND ticket in the 2021 general elections.

According to a grassroot UPND party member who requested for anonymity, the aspirants are already silently campaigning through their emissaries. Its not yet known whether the Incumbent MP, Darius Mulunda will recontest his seat in 2021.

The last party primary elections saw 9 contenders that included the incumbent MP Darius Mulunda, Charles Habinda, Zilindi Himoonga and former Local Government and Housing permanent secretary Timothy Hakuyu.

Others who participated were former UPND Siavonga district chairman, Jelly Kapalangwe, Leonard Madabula, Collins Simoonga and previous area MP, Kennedy Hamudulu who was sent to early retirement.

Five of the aspirants are Lusaka based seasoned politicians and bussinesmen and only two are local bussinessmen.

On Saturday PF district chairman Brave Mweetwa dismised rumours linking him to the biggest opposition Party saying he can not “ride on a sick horse that is about to die” and further warned the architects of the false rumours that they risk being dragged to court.

In another development Siavonga District Council Secretary Carol Mkandawire and two of her juniors have been transfer to other districts.  Mrs. Mkandawire has been moved to Mkushi in her current Position as Council Secretary while District Planing Officer Brian Musonda is going to Chililabombwe.

District Procurement officer Ms. Namakau has also not  being spared from the mass transfers that have besieged the Local authority and will be moving to Chiengi District.

The Transfers come at a time when the local authority is facing serious accusations from  residents in the manner its handling CDF projects and land issues.
