CITY of Lusaka is registered at Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for the 2018 division one season and eligible to compete in the league, says club secretary Christopher Chilongo.

The Chilongo faction has dismissed media reports that the club was denied registration by FAZ.

In an interview yesterday, Chilongo said the club had already paid registration fees to FAZ.

He said the Chilenje outfit was even on the verge of registering players for this season.

“I wish to assure our members that the club is registered at FAZ and will compete in the 2018 league season. We have paid registration fees and now working on listing players,” Chilongo said.

He said the club executive had enjoyed good relationship with FAZ and it was unfortunate that the association president Andrew Kamanga was being dragged into cheap politics.

“Our focus now is to prepare a team that will win promotion back to super division. The team has been training elsewhere as the Simataa Simataa faction denied us access to Woodlands stadium,” Chilongo said.

The outspoken secretary said the board of directors was expected to meet with Forli Limited to chart the way forward over the use of Woodlands Stadium.

He was confident the team would use Woodlands Stadium for their home matches once the season opened.

He said the community owned property shares and must not be denied access to the facility.

“We will not engage into physical fights over access to Woodlands Stadium. We have been advised that that is a boardroom matter and our directors are expected to have an amicable discussion with Forli Limited,” he said.
