Let’s fight COVID-19 head on – Sioma MP

By ANDREW MUKOMA
WE have to the responsibility to stop the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) before it causes damage to the country, Sioma Member of Parliament (MP) Nancy Subulwa Mbololwa has said.
According to her, the fight against the pandemic was a collective responsibility where each citizen should play a positive role.
Ms Siubulwa was worried with the situation and had been pleading with residents in Sioma district to adhere to the guidelines given by Government.
She told the Daily Nation that some rural hospitals were not capable of handling and dealing with any case of COVID-19 should it strike the outlying areas.
“When you go to rural hospitals, you will discover that they don’t have sanitizers or anything to prevent the spread of COVID-19. You know all these things being talked about look very funny but when it strikes, we shall all cry.
“Right now, we don’t need a lockdown unless we do it for Lusaka and Copperbelt where there is an outbreak and that is what China did in Wuhan,” she said. Ms Sibulwa said it was important that sensitisation was enhanced in rural areas and called on all citizens to take this as a personal responsibility.
She was however happy that after she made call through the Daily Nation last week for Government to consider employing doctors and nurses that were on the street.
