POLICE in Chinsali have arrested a 25-year-old man for being in possession of K700 counterfeit notes, Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police Joel Njase has confirmed.
Mr Njase identified the suspect as Paul Fredrick Kangwa Kafusha.
“Police received a report from Mary Mbulo, 31, indicating that Kafusha attempted to deposit K1,400 at the MTN mobile money booth,” Mr Njase said.
He said the suspected attempted to deposit K1, 400 from her MTN Mobile money booth out of which K700 was discovered to have been counterfeit.
He said the money was in K100 notes bearing Serial numbers FN 188805795, FN188805797 and FN 188805790 respectively.
Mr Njase said the suspect was currently detained in Police custody.
He said the incident occurred on April 4 2020 at about 15:50 hour at Chinsali Business Centre.
Mr Njase said investigations had been instituted to establish the source of the counterfeit notes.
