‘Brace for tough decisions’

By MUYANI SHINJABALE
IF we do not make difficult decisions now, the spread of COVID-19 will increase, Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe has said.
Mr Mwakalombe said Government would make hard decisions if the corona virus was to be completely eradicated in order to sustain the lives of the people.
The Minister said this when he addressed market associations in Ndola on measures put in place to fight COVID-19.
He stated that the fight against the virus needed concerted efforts and the ability to make sacrifices in order to effectively eradicate the disease.
Mr Mwakalombe said Government would be forced to lockdown the country, if people did not follow the guidelines aimed at curbing the spread of the disease.
He stated that street vending had always been illegal and people should not complain that they were not selling their merchandise.
The Minister urged all stekeholders to comply with the laid down measures in order to avoid a lockdown.
Mr Mwakalombe indicated that the consequences of a lockdown, would gravely affect all the people.
Ndola Mayor, Amon Chisenga, said some individuals were a danger to themselves because of the love of beer.
Mr Chisenga stated that he could not believe that people still wanted to patronise bars despite being aware of the pandemic.
