‘Mkushi churches conducting secret prayers’

By PETER MALASHA
SOME churches in Mkushi have been conducting congregation meetings secretly, despite the ban on gatherings which was supported by church mother bodies.
Mkushi District Commissioner (DC), Luka Mwamba, warned of stern action against anyone defying Presidential directive and Health guidelines on Covid-19.
Mr Mwamba conducted an on-spot check at End of Time Ministries and Nationally Churches that were reported to have been congregating even in the light of suspension on gatherings.
Mr Mwamba accompanied by Chibefwe ward councillor, Geshom Musonda, said congregating in churches was suspended and would only be reviewed after the expiry of the 14-day period.
He regretted that some churches were abrogating the Presidential directive and Ministry of health prevention guidelines.
Mr Mwamba said such churches could contribute to the spread of the virus instead of being in the fore-front fighting the pandemic.
“We are saying stop congregating in churches until the time you will be allowed and observe social distance to prevent spread of COVID 19,” Mr Mwamba said.
He added that people should learn and willing to comply with guidelines, considering that virus had spread across the globe.
End of Time Ministries was reported to have been conducting meetings during the week from 12:30 hours to midnight.
