ARTISTES need to prioritise the need to have proper managers because artistes’ management in this country needs attention says Isaac Siwale an events and artiste manager from Hustlers Events Management and Promotions.
Siwale who is famously called King Hustler in the entertainment circles charges that Zambian artistes in general do not put value on having managers hence the lack of development and personal progress.
“Artiste management is an area that really needs attention in Zambian music industry because we have talent but most people or artistes don’t know how to handle their talent in a professional manner and do not value managers,” he says.
“Without managers, it is clear to see that artistes do not use thier talent to break a spirit of poverty or live a legacy of wealth and investment.”
Hustler said it is true to notice that the entertainment industry is growing but professionally, we are still lagging behind as a nation.
“As Hustlers Events Management and Promotions, we would love to see our Zambian acts or musicians be financially stable and have a proper layout out program of their careers. That way, they(artistes) don’t have to miss shows and have financial pressures like we’ve seen before. Artistes ought to be and act professional,” he says, adding that it is against this background that he decided to invest in artiste management and promotions.
“We don’t want to see an artiste become successful for a while and end up with nothing. Ours is to help them achieve a financial breakthrough.”
Currently Hustlers Management which is involved in entertainment events, parties and artiste management is working with Abel Chungu, Mic Li and Tosta including a number of artistes on different projects. They are also at the centre of XYZ’s Bobby East Back to the Hood Concert that was initially set for April 25 but has been pushed to a date to be announced later.
“We are open to any artiste and partnership because our interest to drive the industry forward. We are helping a lot of these artistes through our various social media platforms as Hustlers Management and Promotions,” concludes Hustler.
