A 17-year-old boy who was found guilty of assaulting a 20-year-old woman has appealed to the court to help him get enrolled into school.

Particulars of the offence are that the boy on March 19 2020 assaulted Monica Mweemba and thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
When matter came up for social welfare report in the Choma Juvenile Court before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, the Juvenile appealed to the court to help him get back to school after stopping in Grade 3 due to financial constraints experienced by his family.
According to the report presented by Probation Officer Zyambo Kazembe, the Juvenile offender assaulted the woman after she declined to respond to his greeting but instead insulted him.
The insult incensed the juvenile forcing him to slap the lady who also reacted by hitting him with a brick.
Mr Kazembe in his report recommended that the juvenile be unconditionally discharged as his health is failing him after he spent several months in custody.
In passing the order Magistrate Munukayumbwa looked into the social welfare recommendation observed the fact that the juvenile was a first offender.
He therefore discharged the juvenile unconditionally.
