Lungu donates to flood victims

KWACHA Member of Parliament (MP) Joe Malanji has donated 300 x 25 Kg bags of mealie and 200 to the flood victims at the old Buchi Hotel
Mr Malanji made the donation on Saturday after he had earlier handed over 1,000 blankets donated to the flood victims by President Edgar Lungu on Friday
Mr Malanji said he was grateful to the President for donating blankets to the flood victims and as area MP, he had also donated the mealie meal and chickens.
“Yesterday, the President donated blankets and as area MP, I decided to donate 300 x 25 kilogrammes bags of mealie and 200 to the flood victims,” Mr Malanji said
On Friday, President Edgar Lungu donated 1,000 to Kitwe Teaching Hospital to supplement the efforts of the hospital as it strives to improve service delivery
Foreign Affairs Minister Joe Malanji delivered the blankets at the hospital on behalf of President Lungu
Mr Malanji said the President decided to give out the 1,000 blankets to the hospital to help the institution especially that winter was approaching
“I have come to deliver the 1000 blankets which have been donated by President Edgar Lungu. I’m just a messenger who has been sent by the republican President,” Mr Malanji said
And in receiving the blankets, Kitwe Teaching Hospital senior medical superintendent Abidan Chansa thanked the President for his gesture saying it would greatly help the hospital.
Dr Chansa said the hospital had the bed space of 380 and so it meant that the hospital would be able to change blankets three times a day.
“The President has shown that he cares” about this hospital which is one of the biggest referral hospitals. We are grateful for this gesture,” Dr Chansa said
