There’s a glimmer of hope…

SPORT PILGRIM with GRACE CHAILE LESOETSA
A GLIMMER of hope engulfed Zambian football this week as Kalusha Bwalya’s camp announced they will attend the emergency general meeting to resolve the wrangles in football.
Not only was there an assurance from lawyer Gilbert Phiri that their clients will attend the meeting but also withdrew the threat of a possible arrest on the FIFA official Mosengo-Omba.
An “Indaba” is scheduled to be held before the FAZ elections that will see football stakeholders, which includes the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ), FAZ and others converging to iron out the issues that have rocked the football arena.
This looks to be a t step in the right direction as Kalusha and his successor Andrew Kamanga have been the main “combatants” in the football fraternity for a decade now. Court cases and all other catalysts to the wrangles have been initiated by the “disciples” of the two giants.
Now that the Kalusha camp has come out plainly that they are willing to dialogue a glimmer of hope has engulfed the Zambian football family that we could be reaching the final end of wrangles and a new dawn of peace in the game.
It is my hope that the two administrators will put personal interests aside and avail themselves at the planned meeting for it to yield positive results that can aid our football in the country to get back to its feet.
Trying to prove who is well connected or powerful doesn’t bring results on the pitch.
The Minister of Sports Emmanuel Mulenga is seemingly becoming a pivot in the unification of football in the country and should be commended.
If he continues on the same trajectory we might see Kalusha and Kamanga working together with the fatherly guidance of the minister who has been uttering wisdom in the recent past.
He however, must extend this positive vibe to other sports as well which are lagging behind in many aspects such as finances.
Finally, we are making progress in bringing Zambia back to its lost pride and glory. Let’s come together with unity of purpose. For comments chailegrace21@gmail.com
