No new covid-19 cases recorded

FIVE Covid-19 patients in Zambia have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours and have been discharged from isolation, Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has said.
And Dr Chilufya said from the 226 tests which were conducted in the last 24 hours, no cases of Covid-19 were recorded.
Dr Chilufya said during the Covid-19 update yesterday that the total number of patients who had so far recovered from Corona virus in Zambia had reached 42.
He said the patients had to test negative from the virus twice before they were allowed to leave an isolation facility.
“We have five Covid-19 patients who tested negative twice as per requirement and have been discharged,” said Dr Chilufya.
Dr Chilufya the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Zambia remained at 84 with 39 active cases still being in isolation and three deaths.
He said mass screening and targeted testing for Covid-19 would continue in Lusaka, Copperbelt and selected parts of the country.
Dr Chilufya also said 9,980 people from high risk countries were had been subjected to the 14 days quarantined but that 2912 had been cleared after meeting the requirements.
And Dr Chilufya clarified that churches still needed to get certification from health authorities before open their doors to congregants.
He explained that the Presidential relief for churches to open amid the Covid-19 was still subject to public health guidelines.
Dr Chilufya said health authorities needed to check that hygiene and safety measures were put in place before opening.
