WE are not afraid of any political party as we go in the Kabwata constituency by-election because people have stopped voting based on names but what the candidate had to offer, Democratic Party President, Harry Kalaba, has said.Mr Kalaba said people that underrated his party were doing so at their own peril as it was poised for victory.He said that even in the general elections most people did not expect him to come out third but he did so against all odds.Mr Kalaba said if people were voting based on names then the late Levy Mkandawire would not have emerged as winner because other people had more confidence of victory.‘’The Democratic National Committee is meeting tomorrow (today) to scrutinise the people that have applied for adoption,’’ he said.He said a number of big names had applied in the ruling UPND and PF but that the DP was not intimidated and that he was sure that they would carry the day come January 20, 2022.Mr Kalaba said that they had so far received six applications including from a media personality, Emmanuel Nyoni, who had successfully filed in his application.‘’We have an overwhelming response but I’m sure the DNC is going to pick a person that will represent the aspirations of the people of Kabwata,’’ he said.
