CHAVUMA district council district has handed over a health post constructed at a total cost of K180, 000 to the Ministry of Health in that district.

Speaking during the handover ceremony yesterday, Council Chairperson Victor Kashika said the health post that was constructed under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Kalombo-Kamisamba ward demonstrated Government’s commitment towards ensuring that health care services were brought closer to the people.

Mr. Kashika said Government through Chavuma District Council desired to see communities have increased access to essential services related to health for the general well-being of the people in the district.

He has, however, urged the community in the ward to guard the facility jealously and offer maximum security against vandalism and other forms of misuse.

And speaking at the same gathering, Chavuma District Commissioner Benjamin Mufunga said the Patriotic Front (PF) government was proud to have responded to the plight of the people in the area through the construction of the health post which has since been handed over to the District Health Office.

Mr. Mufunga said the construction of Kalombo Health Post demonstrated the PF government’s policy of taking quality health care as closer to the people as possible and observed that the development would improve the socio-economic landscape and well-being of the people in Kalombo-Kamisamba ward.

Meanwhile, Acting District Medical Director, Kenneth Chinjamba said Government has deployed 37 trained staff to the district and called on the community to offer maximum support to the health staff that would be deployed to work at the health post.
