Abuse by state institutions has increased in new dawn administration

By IRVIN MUYUMBWA
THE Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) has charged that the level of abuse of State institutions by the United Party for National Development (UPND) government has increased compared to the previous administration of the Patriotic Front (PF).
PeP president Sean Tembo said under the new dawn administration, State institutions were blatantly abused more than it was under the PF and former President Edgar Lungu’s tenure.
Mr Tembo said it was his hope that Zambians were making observations of the political environment which the UPND and its leadership had created when the party had promised to govern the country differently.
He said the UPND administration was slowly becoming autocratic as it had started exhibiting traits of undemocratic tendencies by their total disregard of the rule of law.
Mr Tembo said the political environment had become more poisonous and that more and more Zambians were withdrawing from commenting on national matters because for fear of repression.
