ZAMBIAN Breweries says it is in the process of investing US$30 million to increase capacity of Eagle beer production at their Ndola plant.

ZB country director Annabel Degroot said the money was meant to increase the production of their Eagle brand.

Speaking during a media tour of Lusaka’s Mungwi road production plant recently, Ms Degroot said the company had already invested US$250,000 in the purchasing of a cassava processing machine for the brewing of Eagle beer.

“We are in the process of investing US$30 million at our Ndola plant for the production of Eagle beer, and we recently bought a cassava processing machine worth US$250,000; this investment is meant to build the production capacity of our Eagle beer brand, “she said.

She said the money would go towards the purchasing of a one million hectare litre packaging machine for the Eagle brand, adding that currently ZB faced the challenge of packaging which has resulted in not having enough beer on the market.

Ms Degroot said currently the plant could not produce enough Eagle beer due to the challenge in packaging, adding that this affected the clients as their required volumes could not be met.

She said the company would increase the building capacity at the plant and were working towards making the brand one of the most popular in Zambia.

She announced that the company had in the last five years invested a total of US S350 million in Zambia and that it still remained among the biggest tax contributors to the Zambian economy.

She said ZB was working towards building the portfolio of quality products and continuing with the responsible drinking campaign.
