Provide incentives for the poultry industry – Mubanga

PROVIDE necessary incentives to the poultry industry in order to enhance the raring of chickens up to 900 grams in order to tap into the Saudi Arabian market.

Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Elias Mubanga says there is a market for chickens in Saudi Arabia, hence the need for various stakeholders to come on board and help small scale farmers to reach the target.

Mr. Mubanga says Zambia did not grow chickens up to 900 grams as required by the Saudi Arabian market but that the country had the potential to meet the required target.

He said Government was engaging the poultry association and various stakeholders to ensure that small scale farmers are helped with various incentives to grow chickens.

Mr. Mubanga says Government remains committed to ensuring that small and medium enterprises tap into the international market and positively contribute to the country’s economy.
