Pupils Forum to benefit pupils

Dear Editor,
THE Daily Nation newspaper recently came up with the education page dubbed, “Pupils Forum.” The forum is aimed at equipping pupils with academic knowledge in various subjects.
The subjects covered include Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Civic Education, English, and Mathematics, among others.
The forum targets pupils in different grades. The slogan is, “Daily Nation educating the nation.” This initiative will benefit pupils particularly those in the examination classes during this period when schools are on recess because of Covid-19.
The topics covered in different subjects are simplified, making it easy for learners to understand. However, learners should take advantage of this learning platform by reading topics being covered in various subjects in the Daily Nation newspaper on a daily basis.
The Thursday, May 7, 2020 edition covered Civic Education on the topic of Citizenship on page 11. I went through the topic and I found it simple to understand. Hence, my recommendation for pupils to read this forum.
What is certain is that the outbreak of novel coronavirus pandemic has adversely affected the school calendar in Zambia.
Looking at the prolonged school holiday, it is not yet known whether pupils would write the final examinations for grades seven, nine, and twelve.
The Ministry of General Education is yet to give guidance on the same issue at the appropriate time.
All said and done, I wish to laud the newspaper for coming up with the Pupils Forum. To the pupils, I implore them to make use of the forum because it will benefit them as a learning and revision platform. Indeed Daily Nation is educating the nation.
ELEMIYA PHIRI,
Lusaka.
