THIRTY-NINE marketeers in Lupososhi constituency have received K250 each empowerment funds from their area Member of Parliament (MP), Chungu Bwalya.
The MP empowered the traders in Nsombo village in Bwalinde ward in Lupososhi district while 34 flood victims also received K 250 each.
Mr Bwalya, who is also Northern Province Minister, empowered marketeers and flood victims at the weekend at Lupososhi Boarding Secondary School hall.
PF Northern Province youth secretary, Chanda Nsofu, announced the empowerment.
Speaking when he handed over the funds, Mr Bwalya said he was fulfilling his promiseto boost the businesses of marketeers at Nsombo market.
To the flood victims of Nsombo, Mr Bwalya said he wanted to do his part as an area MP as he could not just sit idle and wait for the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to come in.
He, however, assured the flood victims that Government, through the DMMU, was making frantic efforts to come to their aid.
Mr Bwalya also donated mini tumplines and resting mats for pre-school pupils at Nsombo A Primary School, Nsombo B Primary School and Lupososhi Boarding Secondary School.
And Nsombo senior headman Pascal Nyemba thanked Mr Bwalya for the kind gesture and urged him to continue doing the same.
Senior headman Nsombo called on marketeers not to squander the money but to consider it as a seed to yield more fruits.
