COLOMBIA SENDS HER MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF ZAMBIA’S FIRST REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT, DR. KENNETH DAVID KAUNDA

BRASILIA –JULY 5th 2021 – – – – Colombia’s President, Ivan Duque Marguez has sent a message of condolences to President Edgar Lungu following the death of Zambia’s First President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

Speaking from Bogota when he received letters of credence from Zambia’s Ambassador to Brazil with extra-accreditation to Colombia, Dr. Alfreda Kansembe-Mwamba, President Marguez said Colombia is saddened by the demise of Dr. Kaunda.

During a virtual ceremony, Mr Marguez said he commiserates with the Zambian people for the loss of a founding President who fought so hard for Zambia’s Independence.

Mr. Marquez further paid tribute to Zambia for its commitment towards deepening economic cooperation with Colombia.

The Colombian leader said his government is committed to building strong diplomatic relations with Zambia rooted in tourism and trade investments.

President Marquez assured Dr Kansembe-Mwamba that his government stands ready to receive Zambia in Colombia to commence trade negotiations.

And Dr Kansembe-Mwamba said Zambia is geared towards promoting stronger bilateral relations with Colombia.

She hoped that the cooperation between the two countries will improve mutual understanding, reinforce bilateral cooperation and strengthen the trade and business ties.

Dr Kansembe-Mwamba was among the 16 heads of Missions that presented their Credentials to the Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez.
