THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) is ready to face the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in any election including the Presidential election, even if it meant having it today, NDC spokesperson Eric Chanda has claimed.

PF secretary general, Davies Mwila on Wednesday challenged NDC consultant Chishimba Kambwili to ensure that his party (NDC) fielded candidates in the forthcoming local government elections.

Mr Chanda said that in as much as NDC would not be dictated to by the PF chief, NDC had accepted the challenge.

He said in an interview that the new opposition party would field candidates for the forthcoming election and any other elections to come.

Mr Chanda reiterated that the NDC was ready to challenge the PF in any election, including at Presidential level  even if that poll was organized for today.

“We are ready for any election, we are actually the ones who called on government to organise the said by elections because they are long overdue. The 90 day period has already elapsed. So why would we call for an election that we are not going to be a part on?” he questioned.

Mr Chanda explained that the NDC had been pushing for the forthcoming local government by-elections because it was ready for them.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda reiterated that Mr Mwila should never give the NDC directions because they had their own boss, Mwenya Musenge now popularly known as John the Baptist.

He charged that Mr Musenge was man enough to give the opposition party direction and that it was decisions that matter, ‘not dictates from the PF secretary general’.

Mr Chanda also advised government to see to it that all elections were held within the stipulated constitutional time frame.
