K480, 000 RAISED TO REPAIR PF’S RANSACKED SECRETARIAT

OVER K480, 000 has been raised for the rehabilitation of the Patriotic Front (PF) secretariat in Lusaka which was damaged by UPND cadres last month.
PF Secretary General, Davies Mwila, said that the funds were generated from pledges by PF members.
Mr Mwila said repairs started on Monday and were expected to be complete by the end of the week.
He said the PF had put up tight security to ensure that no person would have access to the secretariat without an appointment.
He also cautioned UPND supporters to desist from harassing PF members and stop the destruction of the party’s property.
Mr Mwila appealed to Zambia Police to expedite the investigation into the destruction of PF properties so that culprits could face the full wrath of the law.
He also said the continued attacks on PF members by UPND cadres were unacceptable.
“Our offices dotted across the country are being vandalised or taken over by the UPND, this should come to an end, the police must move in,” Mr Mwila said.
And UPND spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has called for thorough investigations in the damaging of PF offices so that culprits could be brought to book.
Last month, UPND cadres celebrating the victory of the party in the recent election stormed the PF secretariat and destroyed property.
Police said investigations into the matter were still on.
