‘Don’t use exam classrooms for prayers’

SCHOOL infrastructure should not be rented out to churches, but reserved for examination classes only, says Kitwe District Education Board Secretary Christopher Nyungila has said.
Mr Nyungila said school authorities should ensure that churches should only be allocated classes that were not in use by pupils, who resumed lessons today.
He was speaking yesterday when District Commissioner, Chileshe Bweupe and Wusakile Member of Parliament Pavyuma Kalobo handed over sanitisers and face masks to Twatemwa and Twafweni combined schools.
Twatemwa combined school got sanitisers and 735 face masks while t Twafweni received a carton of sanitisers and 100 face masks Twatemwa has 695 grade nine and grade seven pupils, while Twafweni has 70 grade seven pupils.
Mr Nyungila said churches conducting prayers at the school should not use the desks from the school, but should come with their own furniture. The delegation found three classes being used by three churches.
And head teacher Patrick Gondwe said he was disappointed that a pump which was donated last year in December by SOS was stolen.
Mr Gondwe said the school will have a problem of water following the theft of the water pump which was installed at a cost of K52, 000 by SOS.
