Ex-international Sichone tips Daka

By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSA
RETIRED Zambian international Moses Sichone says striker Patson Daka has the attributes to become a top player in the Bundesliga should RB Leipzig sign him. Sichone, who spent most of his professional career playing in the German league, said Daka has enough experience to play in the Bundesliga.
According to a report by transfermarkt.com, Redbull Salzburg sister club and German Bundesliga upstarts Red Bull Leipzig are eyeing Daka as an option for Timo Werner who has joined Chelsea.
Reacting to the news, Sichone said he would recommend Daka to switch to Leipzig as it is a more competitive league compared to the Austrian league.
“It would be a great thing if he switched to Leipzig.
Bundesliga is not just any other league compared to Salzburg where he is playing at the moment.
“Bundesliga is not easy, but he is young and all he needs is determination and focus. He has a bit of some experience, played in the champions. And he’s disciplined.
I think Daka will not fail to perform should his move become reality,” Sichone said.
The former FAZ technical director said Zambia needed players to breakthrough to such world class leagues as it will also uplift the performance of the national team.
Sichone said he was ready to fully support Daka when he makes a move to Germany.
“This is what we are lacking, more Zambian players to breakthrough in bigger leagues which has contributed to the national team failing to compete at high standard.”
“The time I moved to Germany, they said they are racists, but the only thing that kept me was to realise why I was there, discipline and hard work. I had to make it and even today’s players can make it,” he said.
And Sportsnet writer and analyst Peter Galindo told transfermarkt.com said Daka would be a good addition to Leipzig since he knows the tactics and has superior pressing numbers, along with a stronger attacking output.
Daka has scored 22 goals in 24 matches for Salzburg.
Should Daka switch to Germany, he will be a third Zambian to play in Bundesliga after Sichone and Andrew Sinkala who played for Bayern Munich.
Sichone played for Koln among other Germany clubs.
The Zambian striker could become the 17th player to move from Salzburg to Leipzig.
Leipzig are third on the table behind leaders Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and are also in the Champions League quarter-finals.
