Mushindano tailors empowered

By JACKSON MAPAPAYI
TAILORS in Mushindamo have been empowered to make and supply 6,000 face masks, courtesy of the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU).
The 6,000 face masks will then be distributed in all the schools in the district.
Mushindamo District Administrative Officer, Oscar Mugala, confirmed the development in an interview yesterday.
Mr Mugala said the tailors had swung into action to ensure that they meet the target.
“Yes, I can confirm that the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit has awarded a contract of making face masks that will be supplied in all the schools. The total number of the masks is 6,000,” Mr Mugala said.
He said the district had not recorded any case of Covid-19 and that all the schools that had opened for examination classes were doing well in terms of preventive measures.
“And all the schools are observing hygiene in line with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health,’’ he said.
He also revealed that all the schools were disinfected before opening doors to examination classes.
Mr Mugala appealed to well-wishers to come on board and help in the prevention of the spread of Covid19.
He said the fight against the pandemic could not be left to Government alone but needed concerted efforts from all stakeholders.
