PF sees redover State harassment

By NATION REPORTER

THE Patriotic Front has bemoaned the continued harassment and arrests of its members by the UPND government using law enforcement agencies.

Given Lubinda, the PF vice president said May alone, several members of the central committee were either arrested and answering to unknown charges or were being raided by law enforcement agencies.

Mr Lubinda said he was called to answer to his charges on his birthday, while former Mines Ministers Richard Musukwa had his residences both in Chililabombwe and Lusaka, from which his genuinely acquired assets and property were seized.

He said as if the two within a month was not enough arrests, Rober Kalima, the Malole Member of Parliament was arrested as well as Mandevu Member of Parliament, Christopher Shakafuswa

“There are lot of party members who were facing these similar arrests and some matters are before the courts but we are ready to face more charges, if he wants he can arrest all of us but he shall not manage to arrest the spirit of the PF,” Mr Lubinda said.

Mr Lubinda said it was disheartening that Members of Parliament were being denied bond and were were being forced to provide sureties as if they were not elected members of the House and of fixed aboard.

He said Members of Parliament were being harassed by the police but Parliament was not there to protect them, when a member of an institution was being demeaned it was their expectation that the institution should protect them.

Meanwhile Mr Lubinda said the unprovoked and malicious attacks on the Catholic Church and its leaders by President Hakainde Hichilema have been followed by unguarded statements and insults by his followers against the clergy.

Mr Lubinda said because of what the president said all his supporters were busy insulting the priests and calling them names.

He said expressing anger and ridicule in a public place and the head of state was undeserving of a leader.

Mr Lubinda said all well-meaning Zambians should stand and defend the church from UPND attacks because what the clergy were saying are the thing that the people were feeling.
