IT is not right for clubs to break the law and push for an amnesty, Power Dynamos chief executive officer Ricky Manfunda has said.

Speaking during an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Manfunda said it was disappointing to hear FAZ say there will be a general amnesty granted to clubs for abrogating the law during the 2017 MTN/FAZ Super league.

Manfunda said player registration and issues to do with ICT are dealt with by FIFA following a player meeting all the requirements.

He noted that there is need for FAZ to rescind its decision and ensure that all erring teams face the wrath of the law.

“Football is supposed to be played by rules. Player registration and issues to do with ICT are dealt with by FIFA following a player meeting all the requirements. FIFA rules are clear. A player can only play for another association upon being cleared by in the transfer matching system and the evidence of that is an ICT,

“All the club regardless of their statuses in the league should account for what they have done. FIFA clearly says that any abrogation of laws warrant sanctions. We are calling on FAZ to rescind their decision. All erring teams should face the wrath of the law. We are sure FAZ will deal with the matter because it is not right for clubs to break the law and push for an amnesty,” Manfunda said.

On Friday, FAZ announced plans to grant an amnesty to streamline the correction of all anomalies that have affected super league teams.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga noted that the association has been facing a lot of challenges dating back to 2014, regarding registration for both local and foreign players in the leagues.

Kamanga attributed failure within the Registrar’s office to follow the correct regulations regarding player registration as the cause of the attributed challenges.

“An amnesty to streamline the correction of all anomalies was extended to all clubs to normalise registration. New regulations for foreign players will be introduced to ensure that the leagues attract quality players from outside the country,”
Kamanga said.
