IMPRESSIVE DAKA CHEERS BRENDAN RODGERS

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

PATSON Daka’s coach at Leicester City FC, Brendan Lodgers has praised the Zambian after he came off the bench to help the EPL outfit draw 3-3 with Queens Park Rangers in a pre-season fixture played on Sunday.

After coming in as a second half substitute with his team trailing 2-0, Daka made an immediate impact and assisted Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to score his first goal for the club before he scored his first goal for the EPL outfit with a cool one-on-one finish to level the scores.

The former Red Bull Salzburg striker’s dangerous pace won Leicester a penalty which was converted by Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho in the dying minutes of the preseason fixture which ended 3-3.

The performance cheered Rodgers who described the Zambian as an exciting signing for Leicester City.

“Patson Daka getting his first goal which is always important for a striker, he did have a great finish and he has been outstanding over the course of the pre-season.

“He was excellent when he came in, you have to give them time, but he has that pace. You see his comfort one on one, and he finishes with calmness. His pace, I couldn’t believe he got to the ball for the penalty. He’ll be a really exciting signing,” Rodgers said after the 3-3 draw at QPR.

Rodgers hailed Daka’s exceptional combination with Ihinacho, who scored the equaliser as Leicester avoided another pre-season defeat.

He said the goals scored in the 3-3 draw with QPR will motivate the strikers as pre-season preps continues. Rodgers said there is more to be done to fine tune his squad ahead of the new season set to kick off on August 13.

Leicester will kick off their 2021/2022 season with a home fixture against Wolves.
