Lungu warns against corruption

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has warned of stern action against public servants involved in corruption.
And President Lungu has advised political leaders to preach peace and refrain from utterances that have potential to cause violence as the country goes towards the 2021 general elections.
The Head of State said those found in engaging in corruption would face the wrath of the law.
He said yesterday during the national address that any individual involved in corruption would not be protected by the Government.
Mr Lungu said regardless of which political party the perpetrators are affiliated to, the law would be applied fairy.
“Fighting corruption is our main priority as Government. As Government we will not tolerate any form of corruption.
“Those who will be found guilty by the courts of law will be dealt with. The law will be applied to any individual involved in corruption regardless of the political party you belong,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Lungu urged Zambians to desist from violence as the country goes towards elections.
Mr Lungu said there was no need for the people to engage in violence during campaigns, stressing that people should embrace each other.
“Elections come and go, so there is no need for people to engage in violence. We need to remain one people, one nation before and after elections,” President Lungu said.
