What rebranding is this?

Dear Editor,

The August 12 2021 elections were a watershed event.  We have so far learnt that not only is the mighty PF rebranding, others like Rainbow, now Economic Front are doing the same.

There is nothing coming from the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD). The FDD rode on the back of the PF and have consequently suffered the worst loss of the August 12 elections-extinction.

As the internal rebranding processes move into forward gear and overdrive in 2022, there questions that we need ask.

What is really the fundamental difference between Economic Freedom Fighters under Kasonde Mwenda, Patriots for Economic Progress under Sean Tembo and Wynter Kabimba’s Economic Front (formerly Rainbow Party).

The names of these parties indicate that their main focus is on the economy, why are they not merging?  Each one may argue on having a different vision, yet the main reason is ego, each of one feels that he deserves to be president; even if some hardly have substantive followers to make meaningful impact in our communities.

Small parties under these intellectual giants are simply overcrowding the political space. They are better off if they cohere around PF as associates and offer a united opposition front to the UPND alliance government.
