ZESCO United’s new head coach, Numba Mumamba has challenged players to work hard and prove themselves to deserve a place in his team.
Speaking in an interview with Zesco United communications manager, Desmond Katongo, Numba who replaced George Lwandamina as head coach said he would give the players a chance to show that they can play for the Ndola giants.
Numba said Zesco United who have won the league eight times would bounce back from its failures to defend the Super Division and qualifying for the CAF games if all the players can give their whole to compete.
Numba said he would continue his philosophy of combining the young and old players to achieve success at Zesco United.
He said the additions to the Zesco United squad will be based on the assessment he will make from the current setting.
The 42-year-old former Sensational Zanaco FC tutor who won his first league title in 2014 with the bankers said winning titles remains his first priority at Zesco.
“The objective for me is to continue with the philosophy of the club which is about winning titles and playing competitive football.
“This is a big team that has been consistent in the last decade. I know the expectations are very high especially with the good work my predecessor did. It is important to pick up from there and take the team to the next level,” Numba said. “What is important is for players to prove that they are worth being at this football club. I am not here to make speedy and radical decisions. I will give everyone the same opportunity so that they can prove themselves if they are worth keeping.”
Meanwhile, Zesco United have shifted their pre-season preparations from Ndola to Mongu, Katongo confirmed.
