AUTO ARE FUTSAL KINGS

PREMIER Futsal League giants Lusaka Automotive Futsal Academy defended the PFL title after humiliating Monze George FC 7-0 in the grand finale played on Saturday night at Automotive Indoor Futsal Arena.

A double brace from the league’s top scorer Wiseman Phiri and Prince Lungu and lone goals from John Mwaliteta and Michael Phiri helped Automotive win the PFL title unbeaten.

Despite having missed out on the final following defeat to Auto, Monze George bagged K10, 000 for finishing runners-up while Auto walked away with K25, 000 as champions.

Kabwe K-Line finished as third best after beating Chipata Boys 7-4 in a third and fourth play-off.

K-Line missed out on the cash prizes but managed to walk away with a trophy.

Meanwhile, Division One Futsal League champions Zanaco were rewarded a K6, 000 for being the first team to win promotion to the PFL after winning the Division One league.

And Pioneer Avengers won promotion and joined Zanaco in the PFL after beating BS Stars 8-3 in game three of the Division One final play-offs.

And Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) technical Director Lyson Zulu hailed the PFL for a well organised Futsal League.

Speaking after witnessing Automotive FC being crowned 2020/2021 PFL champions, Zulu said PFL supplements FAZ commitment to develop both football and Futsal in the country.

“Cosafa has introduced futsal championship to be played in October in Mozambique and with the organisation and the talent we have seen here, we are confident that we will produce the players who will go and compete at the Cosafa championships,” Zulu said.

Meanwhile, PFL chairman Tarak Mehta congratulated Automotive PFL for defending the PFL with an unbeaten record.

Mehta also hailed Zanaco and Pioneer Avengers for winning promotion to the PFL after impressing in the National Division One Futsal League.

Mehta is happy that due to the efforts by the PFL, futsal has continued to grow.
