ZCCM-IH should consider hiring experts to run Mopani Copper Mines (MCM), Minister of Mines and Mineral Development, Richard Musukwa, has said.

And Mr Musukwa said President Edgar Lungu has directed that the Mopani issue must be handled in the best interest of the Zambians.
The minister said if the ZCCM-IH need experts to run Mopani, it was prudent that it hired them for enhanced operations.
Mr Musukwa told the Daily Nation that ZCCM-IH should ensure that the mining firm continue operating efficiently.
He said if the ZCCM-IH did not have capacity, it should ensure that it engages the human resource for the mine to continue operating even when Glencore leave.
“There have been a lot of voices especially political commentators doubting the capability of ZCCM-IH running the mine.
Just to brief the doubting peoples and political commentators, ZCCM-IH will find partners. They will find any partner and structure a model in terms of shareholding,” he said.
And Mr Musukwa said the commander in-chief had directed and the ministry and other affected stakeholders would ensure that the directive was adhered to.
He said the interest of Zambians should be at the centre stage as directed by President Lungu.
