PF youths warn opposition over rigging allegations

By NOEL IYOMBWA
I WILL petition law enforcement agencies to summon anyone claiming that the online voter -preregistration is a gimmick by the Patriotic Front to rig elections in 2021, PF national youth chairperson Kelvin Sampa has said.

Mr Sampa, who is also Kasama Central Member of Parliament, said allegations by some individuals that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ)’s pre-registration exercise was a ploy to rig elections in 2021 could cause confusion in the country.
He said that it was wrong and misleading for some politicians and traditional leaders to start insinuating that the ongoing online pre-registration and invalidation of the old register was a plot to rig the 2021 general elections without any proof.
Mr Sampa said public figures should be cautious when making public statements or they would misleading the nation and ultimately disturb its peace.
He warned the opposition and other individuals who are alleging that the PF intended to rig the elections that their days were numbered.
Mr Sampa said he would petition law enforcement officers to summon anyone making such allegations so that they provide evidence that the ruling party intended to rig the elections through online voter –pre-registration.
Senior Chief Mukuni of Southern Province was quoted in one of the local newspapers warning that the ruling PF leaders would not defy the force of gravity.
He demanded that the ECZ, the PF and the Ministry of Home Affairs must allow for a credible and transparent review of the electoral process for the sake of peace.
And National Democratic Congress Copperbelt chairperson, George Sichula, alleged that the ruling party was targeting opposition controlled territories like Southern, Western, North-Western and Central provinces to rig next year’s elections.
