THE issuance of mobile National Registration Cards (NRC) in Lusaka province is on course, Lusaka province Permanent Secretary, Elias Kamanga has said.
Mr Kamanga said he was confident that the 240, 000 target would be reached
He made the observation when he toured the NRC mobile issuance centres in Chongwe.
The Permanent Secretary said the exercise was going on well and was impressed with the pace at which officers were moving.
He noted that some centres were issuing up to 500 NRCs per day and thanked the registration officers for their hard work.
Mr Kamanga observed that the exercise had received overwhelming response and refuted allegations of any corrupt practices.
He was confident that there was no form of corruption in the process because the centres were managed by a multidisciplinary team that included security personnel.
Chongwe District Commissioner (DC), Robster Mwanza, appealed to members of the public to take advantage of the mobile registration exercise and accord their children and dependents a chance to get their cards.
He observed that the exercise had received overwhelming response and as such appealed for calm among the people.
He said that the exercise was still on in Chongwe and that there was no need to panic.
Chongwe Mayor, Geoffrey Chumbwe, stressed that the exercise was not political and as such it must not be politicized.
He however said that people must not view the exercise as political because it would help those who were far from the registration centres.
