Mr Mpundu has pointed out the increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from K 1.6 million to K25.7 million and now increased it to K28.3 million kwacha.

Mr Mpundu said the significant increase has seen realistic development taking place in the province.

He cited the construction of classroom blocks and health posts dotted across the province as some of the developments.

He further explained that the CDF has further impacted positively on the communities through the rehabilitation and construction of collapsed bridges on various crossing points.

And Mr Mpundu said the partial withdrawal of benefits under NAPSA is another major achievement that has been actualized by the government.

He said many people have attested to the fact that they have been able to access the funds which can be used while they are still energetic.

“I have met a young man who is building a house using the money he withdrew from NAPSA, he told me the money will not complete his house but that starting the project is very important for him,” Mr Mpundu explained.

And Northern Province Social Welfare Officer Sebastian Pasuwa said the department had a total of 69 711 caseload of households on the social cash transfer from 2021 which has been increased to more than 120,000 beneficiaries.

Mr Pasuwa explained that in the past two years, the social cash transfer was increased from K300 to K400 for households without a person with a disability.

He added that the funds for households with a member with a disability rose to eight hundred kwacha from six hundred kwacha.

Mr Pasuwa said the social cash transfer is impacting positively on the vulnerable households in the province.

“The social cash transfer programme is helping in reducing generational poverty among the households,” he explained.

“We have seen some households building better housing units from grass thatched and others have bought livestock,” he added. – ZANIS.
