Woman nabbed for attempted murder

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman of Lusaka’s Kuku Compound has been arrested for abducting and attempting to murder a 23-yerar- old man of the same compound.

Police identified the woman as Werry Mweete, who is alleged to have abducted the man with the help of three men.
Danny Mwale, the acting police spokesperson, said the victim identified as Kenny Kabwe, was bundled in the boot of a motor vehicle belonging to Mweete and taken to Blue Water Dam in Kuku Compound where he was beaten before being thrown into the dam.
Mr Mwale explained that Mweete, who is a businesswoman at Intercity Bus Terminus, did that with the help of three men who are on the run.
He, however, said the motive behind the abduction was yet to be established.
“On October 22, 2020 around 09:00 hours, Mweete together with three men who are on the run, did abduct Kenny Kabwe aged 23 of Kuku Compound from Intercity Bus Terminus.
“He was bundled in the boot of a motor vehicle belonging to Mweete, who is also known to be a business lady at intercity Bus terminal,” Mr Mwale explained.
Mr Mwale said the suspect was apprehended last Sunday, after members of the public tipped police when they saw the same car parked in Kuku Compound.
“People who witnessed what was happening took note of the motor vehicle registration number and managed to rescue the victim before he could drown. Kenny, who sustained a fractured left arm, was rushed to the clinic by people who rescued him before reporting the matter to the police,” he said.
Mr Mwale said the police had since launched a manhunt for the other three suspects, while the victim was still receiving treatment at the clinic.
