By KALUNGA MWAPE
THE tourism sector will rebound following recognition of Zambia as one of the safest destinations in the covid era after it was ranked fourth in the world and first in Africa, Minister of Tourism and Arts Ronald Chitotela has said.

Speaking on the Millennium Radio breakfast show Mr Chitotela said that this is due to the unprecedented leadership being provided by his Excellency President Lungu through the ministry of Health in combating §the corona virus covid 19 pandemic as seen from the recognition by the United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
“As you may be aware the government through the leadership of President Lungu has been investing massively in the health sector to reach its goal of the universal access to health coverage which is also in line with the United Nation World Tourism Organisation UN WTO guidelines in making a country even for tourists,” Mr. Chitotela said. The minister said following the reopening of the tourism sector on June 26, 2020 the ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the ministry of Health with guidance from the UN WTO secretary general launched the tourism safety protocol after evaluations which were later submitted to UNWTO who later did their own assessments and placed Zambia as one of the safest places in the world of the second wave.
