ZESCO board chairman retires

ZESCO board Chairman Mbita Chitala has retired from his position after serving the national power utility company for five years.

Dr Chitala who announced his retirement through a Facebook posting said he will still be available for any advice as Zesco still faces challenges such debt and unfair power purchase agreements.
“I will be available to render any advice when sought as the company still has many challenges such as the renegotiation of the odious debt and unfair power purchase agreements and the commissioning of the Kafue Gorge Lower power project (KGLPP).
He said leading Zesco as board chairperson was a challenging job but hoped that the example and pace he set up will be continued by other patriots.
“To all my friends. After tour of service as Zesco Ltd Chairman and Director for almost five years, I have today retired. It was a challenging duty as we tried to manage over $7 billion dollars people’s assets with integrity and patriotism,” he said.
