Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri convicted Adrian Muleya who was charged with indecent assault on a female contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Muleya on September 14, in Choma unlawfully, wilfully and indecently assaulted his uncle’s wife without her consent.
According to the facts on record, Muleya trailed his aunt around 19:00 hours when she disembarked from a bus.
He stealthily followed her without her noticing, and when she reached a secluded bushy area, he jumped on her and fondled her breast in an attempt to rape her but she overpowered him.
After running away and leaving her bruised, she reported the matter to her brothers who followed Muleya and found him with the victim’s bag and wig as she was able to recognise him as her nephew.
When he appeared for judgment, Magistrate Phiri after analysing all the evidence found it incumbent that he sees a prison cell for his barbaric act.
