KABWE Warriors coach Mumamba Numba says he has the ammunition to overcome the FAZ Super League defending champions Red Arrows who have struggled with only one point from the last six games.
Warriors will visit Nkoloma Stadium over the weekend for a Week 21 fixture, which promises a lot of intrigue as Arrows will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways while Kabwe Warriors will be seeking maximum points to avoid dropping back into the relegation zone.
Numba said Warriors will have to prepare adequately to collect maximum points when they meet Arrows over the weekend. “It will be a tough game in Lusaka but we have the ammunition that can give us a victory. What we need is to get down to training and make sure that we psych our team so that they are ready for the challenge ahead of us,” Numba said.
He said his players are motivated after claiming the bragging rights following the 2-1 beating of rivals Prison Leopards on Sunday.
“It is motivating on our part. Our team responded well and we managed to get the three points against Prison Leopards, which was our objective. We knew that it would be a tough game but we accounted ourselves very well and we managed to get a win,” he said. Asked in which areas Warriors needs to improve to continue in winning ways after picking up seven points from the first three games in the second round of the Super League, Numba said; “One of the areas we need to work on, we are missing a lot of scoring opportunities we are creating and if we can just improve on our finishing, we can be scoring more than the two goals we scored in the game against Prison Leopards.”
Numba , who was handed a six months contract as Kabwe Warriors head gaffer after he was dismissed as Zesco United coach last December , noted that it is worrying that Warriors concede goals after scoring.
“It is a concern on our part if we conceded after scoring. I think it brings pressure to the team but we responded well against Prison and managed to get a goal, which gave us the win but we have to encourage our team so that we avoid making such mistakes, especially when we are leading,” Numba said.
In his three games with the team, which he found languishing in the relegation Zone, Numba has collected two wins and a draw to move the club to 14tth position on the log with 23 points, on par with Chambishi, who dropped into the relegation zone after Saturdays defeat to MUZA FC.
