I AM running for the office of Presidency of the Republic of Zambia in the 2021 general elections, Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has declared.

And Ms Nawakwi said rumours that she will be President Edgar Lungu’s running mate in 2021 is a ploy by Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND to pull her down.
“Rumours that I will be President Edgar Lungu’s running mate is a ploy by my political enemies to pull me down,’’ Ms Nawakwi said.
And Ms Nawakwi said it was unfortunate that Mr Hakainde Hichilema has continued to spread rumours about her becoming President Lungu’s running mate after she turned down an alliance proposal with a sole agenda of removing PF.
“All those rumours are a ploy by my detractor Hakainde Hichilema to pull me down so that when I come here, you start saying we want change of government but we do not have anyone because Nawakwi is working with PF,” Ms Nawakwi said.
Ms Nawakwi said she qualifies to rule Zambia as President and has no intentions of becoming anyone’s running mate.
“At first the same Hakainde Hichilema fabricated rumours that I was going to be finance Minister for PF, am I the finance Minister? And now they are saying I will be running mate for President Lungu in 2021 all meant to pull me down,”she said.
Ms Nawakwi said Mr Hichilema does not qualify to rule Zambia because he has no leadership qualities.
Ms Nawakwi alleged that Mr Hichilema amassed wealth by taking advantage of widows and orphans.
