“People are able to see what we have done hence come 2021 we will bounce back,” he said.

Meanwhile Mr Sampa disclosed that as a way of encouraging taxi drivers to register as voters, he is giving out fuel to drivers who register. Mr Sampa said that voter registration process started on low note because some people were harvesting caterpillars while others were in the fields as it was the beginning of the farming season. He disclosed that after sensitising the registration through public address system the situation has improved as the turnout is now good. Mr Sampa said that any taxi driver who registers as a voter is entitled to free fuel as long as they produce a voter’s card.
He stated that this is just one way of encouraging taxi drivers and other people to register so that they exercise their rights in 2021.
The Kasama law maker further said that greeting has also changed as people greet by showing voters cards.
He called on all eligible residents of Kasama and the entire country to register as voters so that they participate in the coming general elections.
“We are giving out free fuel to all taxi drivers who register and obtain a voters card so that we encourage them because most taxi drivers can not leave their ranks and go to vote.
“The turnout has really improved because at first most people were not aware and others were harvesting caterpillars and were in the field but after sensitization the situation has improved,” he said.
