UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has been summoned by police for questioning.

UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma told the Daily Nation in an interview, Mr Hichilema is scheduled to appear at Lusaka central police on Monday next week. 

Mr Kakoma said police officers from force Headquarters attempted to serve the summons at the UPND Secretariat yesterday morning but failed as some vigilant people they found at the Secretariat referred them to the party lawyers.

He said Police want Mr Hichilema for questioning at Force Headquarters on Monday,  December 21, 2020 at 10:00 hours.

Mr Kakoma said police have not stated the reasons why they want to question Mr Hichilema. 

“We appeal to our supporters across the country to be alert and offer President Hichilema solidarity,” Mr Kakoma said.
