Pray for peace, Wina urges Church

VICE-PRESIDENT, Inonge Wina, has implored the church and the citizens at large to pray continued peace that the nation has been enjoying.

Ms Wina said that Zambia is a Christian nation and as such there is need to uphold the good Christian values, which included peace and tranquility.

She said this in a speech read on her behalf by Religious and National Guidance minister Godridah Sumaili during a fundraising church service at United Church of Zambia Marapodi consistory in Chipwalo area.

The Vice President said that Government has taken a number of measures including the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation and the declaration of October 18 as a national day of prayer.

She said that in addition Government has established the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs.

Ms Wina observed that the growth of the church is always a joyous occasion because it means the word of God is winning many souls.

She said the UCZ has contributed towards the establishment of schools, health facilities and special services to society.

And Headman Chipwalo commended Government for delivering development in the country.

He said that it is unfortunate that some people are always criticizing government on everything including positive developments.
