PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has asked the Church to continue praying for politicians to continue maintaining peace, law and order in Zambia.

And President Lungu said he would continue collaborating with the Church no matter what others would say.

Speaking when he celebrated Easter Sunday mass at Kasama Cathedral of St. Johns, President Lungu said if Jesus could overcome death then solutions to the challenges being faced should be found.

“Those of us who believe in God today are reaffirming our faith that the Lord is capable of overcoming any challenge.

“I will keep calling on the Church to help Government not just in the ministry of the Gospel but also in the social sectors where the Church was doing a great job,” he said.

President Lungu said his Government would continue collaborating with the Church in different fields such as education and health to improve the well-being of the people.

He implored the congregants to continue asking the Lord to lead Zambia to overcome its challenges.

“As leaders, we realise that the resurrection of Jesus also means that we find solutions to the challenges being faced by our people.

“If Jesus overcame death, what can stop us from finding solutions to our challenges?” he asked.

He said the importance of Easter Sunday could not be over-emphasized, saying there was no Christian who did not appreciate it. President Lungu said Easter Sunday was a great day on the Christian calendar.

Appending his signature in the visitors’ book, President Lungu said he felt welcome amongst his fellow believers in Christ.

“Continue working hard. You have support from the PF government which I am privileged to be the President,” President Lungu wrote in the visitors’ book.

And Fr. Musonda Kanuma, who is treasurer-general at Kasama Cathedral of St. Johns, said the resurrection of Jesus demanded that people should reflect what kind of a life one was living.

In his sermon, Fr. Kanuma said the resurrection of Jesus signified a new beginning to human life without blame.

During his three-day working visit in Northern Province, President Lungu inspected Government projects, addressed civil servants and public rallies in Kasama, Kaputa, Nsama, Mpulungu, Mbala and Mporokoso.
