LAW enforcement agencies should immediately arrest foreigners that are said to be interfering with the electoral process, GEARS executive director McDonald Chipenzi has said.

Mr Chipenzi said revelations by Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo that one opposition party has brought foreigners to manipulate the electoral process has potential to contribute to voter apathy as people will lose confidence in the electoral system.

He said it was important for the government through the Ministry of Home Affairs to quickly arrest and flush the mercenaries out of the country.

“Citizens will be discouraged from participating in the electoral process because the elections will be manipulated,” Mr Chipenzi said.

Mr Chipenzi said the Immigration Department should be shaken up for allowing foreigners with questionable credentials to enter the country.

He wondered why the police have not arrested the said foreigners

He said undermining the electoral process is treasonable and the culprits must be brought to book.

And Mr Chipenzi has called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the claims and ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.

He said to bring foreigners to manipulate the electoral process is undermining democracy and perpetrators should be caged if allegations are proved.
